How many times have you ordered a KFC bucket, only to get halfway down before giving up? As much as you might like to try and devour a whole bucket in one sitting, it’s something that not everyone can manage. So, with this in mind, can you store and then reheat your KFC at a later date? To reheat KFC, the best thing to do is to place it either in the oven or in an air fryer.
It should be reheated to 75C for it to be safe to eat. You will notice that we haven’t included the microwave in our options below. As such, we recommend either reheating KFC in the oven or air fryer, as we explain below. How to Reheat KFC in the Oven Reheating KFC in the oven ensures it will be nice and crispy, although not quite as good as it was when you first ordered it! Switch on your oven and heat it to 180C or 350F.
Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper or tin foil. Spray it with low-fat cooking oil or olive oil. This ensures your chicken won’t stick to the tray. Then, line your KFC pieces side-by-side before placing the tray in the centre of the oven.
Leave your KFC in the oven for between 20-25 minutes. You should check the temperature of the chicken after 20 minutes to check if it’s done. If it’s not yet up to temperature, reheat it at five-minute intervals until it’s ready. When reheating KFC chicken, you need to check that the temperature has reached 75C or 165F before eating it. As soon as your KFC is at the right temperature and is deliciously crispy on the outside, it’s time to tuck in and enjoy yourself! Place your pieces of KFC in the air fryer basket. Set your air fryer to a temperature of 160C or 320F.
If you want to make double sure that your KFC is nice and crispy, spray each piece with some low-fat cooking oil before closing the air fryer. Close your air fryer and reheat your KFC for fifteen minutes. When you’re reheating KFC, you need to check that the chicken is 75C or 165F before eating it. When your KFC is up to temperature, all that’s left is to tuck in and enjoy your deliciously crispy chicken pieces fresh out of the air fryer! Can You Reheat KFC in the Microwave?
We would avoid reheating KFC in the microwave where possible. Although it is possible to reheat it in the microwave, you’ll find the texture to be completely off. The outside former-crispy coating will become soggy and soft and the chicken will turn rubbery. Did you know that you can freeze your KFC leftovers?
